with the fansite being down, the other hatcheries not working as they should, and me not having enough credit on yarolds to keep two scrolls up there, i am posting my 9-year olds dragons here.

he catches them himself, mostly (( mum helps with the newer, more rare dragons) , of the abandoned page, and names and breeds them himself, too. normally, he can post them himself, too, on the fansite, even learned him how to trade. okay, it has been only from my scroll to his,  but still.

but due to it being down for a few days already... time for some parental help. and some help from all the nice people on my friendslist, here.. please click on the dragons, and help my kid?

At this momend, an update of the AFFA forum is in-progress. please be patient while i finish it, and keep fingers crossed that it will  go smooth.

Edit: Update done! all went smooth, and all should be in working order! report any errors you migth run into to me, either here or on the forum.

i also fixed the AFFA site-news Page, wich will work again when the forum works. i am going to do some minor updates on the site, and posted a change-log on the news page, wich i will update with the latest changes.

if you have suggestions for things you would like to see onthe site and/or forum , they always are welcome. i cant promise i will implement all, that partly depends on my coding skills.

easter was nice, spend the first day over at my momś place, together with other famly members, and went out with my parents and my kids on day two, to a local kinderboerdery ((sorry no idea what its called in english)) i made some photo's, from which i made a slideshow, which you can find here: Link

for the rest things are more and more falling into place.. my son changed schools, and seems to be settling in well, on his new school, and since last week, he finally got swimming lessons, too. my teen daughter is still being a teen, among things.. i will ramble about that in detail later.

I really have gotten he hang of making these, and am having a lot of fun while doing so. so far, most things have been claimed by my kids. the ones i still have are the ball and egg i knitted for practice, and our cat is having his eyes on those, so he migth get the ball. anyways, here are some pictures:



the egg, ball, hearth, and the second turtle. the turtle i made for my son, hearth went to my mom, and is not a key-chain, ball and egg still in the bag i keep my yarn and other crochet stuff in.


And a little bear i made.  I am  making a second one for my son, with the same yarn as the carapace of the turtle above.  and after hat, i have no idea.. but if i get my hands on some green yarn.. i am going to try and make a ninja turtle!

 we ( me and reijiro) have talked about it,  made sure it was no problem one way or another, and  now it is done: the affa site has its own url!!

i am happy the whole move went smooth, did not loose one letter on the forum, as far as i can see!  the only thing  that still has to be moved, or altered into a new format, is the links page. i am working on adapting a base script i found on a site, to fit the affa needs.


i will be doing some optimalising, still have to fix the news page, (or replace it with something else))   and in the next few days will remove th\is year's section for the temporary fics. if you find anything not working, then mail me at: engelina@tmnt-affa.com , or   reply here!

while cleaning my bedroom, i found the bag in which i had some yarn stashed. its quite a lot, but i don't have enough of one color for a big project. i remembered putting my crochet-needles in a drawer earlier this week, and started expirimenting a bit, and in the end decided to try and make a turtle. result posted under cut.

i found out the  pizzas and scrolls site is having a lot of trouble with internet explorer.

i tried to find a fix, but i can not find a fix that doe snot include using a less-saver version of the script.. and even then its not sure if the error will be fixed.

 i have a few options, and am hoping you,  are willing to tell me what you prefer. you can do that by mailing me back, or my responding to  my livejournal, which will also have  an entry about this.

the options are the following:
-live with it, and have people that use ie  not being able to use the site properly (not one i prefer, at all. i lprefer all my sites compatible with any browser. just adding this one for completeness of options))
-try to fix it, with possible chance of it still not working/hackers. (( also not one i favor..  may cause trouble for the other sites, like the affa one.. ))
-find another script (already tried, did not find a decent one. if you know a good one, tell me. not efiction.  ))
-replace it with a forum instead. ((most forum scripts are more stabile, and friendly for any browser.))
-merge this place with the affa forum. ((means people have to re-post.  but the affa forum already as an story section, and author sections. ))
-just give up all together, and delete it.

since a bit over a week, i am using linux instead of windows, partly because theyre seems to be a bug in my vista that causes my computer to have at least one bsod.. every thursday.

i have tried to fix it, but nothing works. brought the computer to a computer shop a few weeks ago, and they could not find it ea iter, but they could tell me it was not a hardware error. memory, hard disk, etc.. everything is in working order.

last week, i had enough. i had gotten a linux disk with a computer magazine a few weeks back, and decided to give it a try. so, installed linux, and it worked, except the wireless network cart. a post on a dutch linux forum was ansered very fast, and the person answering posted a link to what solved that part too. so yues, all working perfectly fine now. and last thusday my computter did not do the chrashy thing, either.

so, for me, dropping windows and now using linux works. and i like using linux, found a html editor that has the options i need, can access my server easy.. and if i need windows for something i can always use the kids computers.. ((my son now has a computer too.. one that also serves as my backup. gift to him and me from my mom, who was no longer using her desktop computer after she bougth a laptop. ))

As some of yoy mnigth remember,m i started uploading screencaps to my lj scrapbook a while ago. I stopped, mainly because it was a pain to upload the files there. Wich had to be done one by one on my own computer (laptop with vista) or i had to use my daugthers computer ( xp upload tool thingie )) 

After some thinking, i decided to start a second photobucket account, and upload everything there. After almost losing all the caps, ((good thing i do make backups, at least of some things )) i decided to make more haste with that, so i did. i uploaded every cap i had a backup off to a photobucket account.

Where this all is leading? to here: Linkie!!   <-- that is where you can find every screencap i had on my computer.  i sometimes add new ones, and will try and post  in my lj if i do. 

These screencaps are free to be used, no credits neccasery, but if you do give credit, i would appreciate it.

lets see.. what i have been up to as of late:

• forgetting a memo or two.. :will make up on that, promise!
• re-doing my website, to frames: been working on that for a while, finished last week, more or less. its now up. the only thing i need is to find some kind of graphic for above the menu.
• AFFA 2008 competition: we just closed the nominations, and now are working on getting the reading list ready, and the fics that need temporary hosting on the site. pages for that have been added, still need to add content on some.
• making art: working on a thing or two, and uploaded something to my deviantart a few days ago.
• real live..: we all know this one.. and that it can keep us busy a lot. may or may not post a journal about that later.. if i do, it will be friends-locked.
• fanfic: working on the resident evil/tmnt crossover, and finished a one shot.. wich, by the way, will be beta-ed, once my beta (reijiro) has time.. wich probably be after the affa. so fics are being written, in between.. posting ish on hold until there is time to beta and edit.

well, that is what i have been doing the past week or so, in a nutshell.

well, seems  the re-intall i did yesterday did  solve the window not booting at all problem i had yesterday, but since that time, i got a few blue screens..

the first few went too fast for me to read, but after turning of that reboot on error thing from vista, i got a good look at the page, got the erroro code, and googled it, to find a solution.. and did not find one that was not confusing me at all. took bits  of solution of  a few pages, the ones i could do myself, that is, and for now, it seems to be running normal.. will  wait a few days before i declare the error gone, thoug..

and so i remember later what i did, i am listing it here.(( i also apologise to my flist, who have to read this... i just have to post it somewhere online, where i can acess it later, just in case.))

• re-install windows (yesterday, afternoon)
• remove the test trail stuff that comes with my install.. ((its one of those boot sector things, most laptops have these days.. and the manufacturer always adds stuff they think is useful to it...  so, yeah, de-install allcrap i dont need, that is not a part of windows. or needed to run the computer, like a short traIl from office,  and some of those play one hour and then pay games)) (also yesterday)
• by then,  the blue screens started. 1 time during dinner, three times while i was chatting with some people. got a photo of the last one.
• get all windows neccesary updates ( part yesterday, part today)
• clean out fan. (not much dust there, but its clean now)
• do checkdisk (found a few errors, do not rember how much, all were restored.)
• de-installed norton three months trail, intalled my security suite (gdata) , did scans for viruses and other nasties, nothing.
• did memory check ( build into vista  one )  all good, no errors.
• got another window update, installed. (not sure why this one came after the rest. )
• tested the system, by running browser, and mediaplayer. no errors. no bluescreens.
• did a last checkdisk. no errors found.

now i am hoping it really is gone,  and that the bad sectors  that where restored where the actual error, or that the updates took care of it.   so, hopefully, i indeed am error-free. for now, at least

weelll.. i  had planned on spending the afternoon relaxing, playing a computer game,  and  looking over two one-shots i finished earlier this week, to get them ready for beta-ing..

 instead i spend  most of the oafternoon and part of the evening  re-installing vista,  and getting my computer back working at this momend, it luckily is.

i backup regulairly, so not much was lost... but some things where... i lost two fics i had finished after tthe last backup, for one. and some coding for the website. fortunately, ican get the coding part again easily enough, just have to rember where i edited it.


the fics.. i still have what i wrote in my head... just have to get it out of my head again. after i re-install word, that is... and photoshop... and at least two other programs i use often. i just hope its my last crash in quite a while.

First the update part:  i updated the affa yesterday, and my site today. main changes are that one of the pages is no longer empty, ( )   i put the gallery in an iframe, and added a second page with iframe for the fanfic links page.  so, all is best viewed from my site, but the fanfic links page is also accessible on its own, if you prefer that.

over the course of the next few days, i will be adding the fanfic links i have, and the ones recced to me so far.  extra recommendations are still welcome, and i want to thank the people who aklready did rec stories for that page! i am also looking into a guestbook for my sites, but so far have not found one i like yet.

i also decided to make more use of my deviantart account. so, what will be where: fanart, wallpapers, etc will be posted on my site.  photo's, scrapbooking pages and manips i make using non-fan chars will be on deviantart. here on lj, i will show something of both.

the birthday and gift part: tomorrow,. jan 11, i will become 35 years.  i already got the first gifts:  6 months lj and 6 months of 100 userpictures from my mom, and  my daugther made something in school for me. will take a pic and post it later! probabbly after tomorrow.

been adding some avvies already,  can still use a few nice ones, thoug!

as some of you might remember, i used to have a page, full with links to various fanfic's.

die to a server switch, and me losing the script, i lost all those links. i have some in my bookmarks, that i since then found again, but many good fics are missing.

day 4, 20-12:

spend this day watching Christmas movies with my son: first the grinch, then the tmnt Christmas episode, then Santa Claus.  my daughter had fun too, at her grandma's house. all in all, a relaxing day.

day 5: 21-12:

winter eggies on dragcave! bred one,  caught one from abandoned., daughter bred one too. traded bred one with another bred winter eggie with katt, later.


day 6: 22-12

todays fun thing: did some card making with my kids. had to sweep floor later,  but that is a small price for the fun i had making Christmas cards for grandma. ((helps that i have a floor that i can sweep easy, too.))

and day 7: 23-7 (today)

got all shopping done! had to wait until this week before i had money to buy  most of the stuff for Christmas, and got all i needed. groceries where  half-paid by me, half my mom , since we celebrate Christmas togeter each year, that one is always a shared one.  got the gifts i needed too.

 and with that, i can end this meme!

some happy stuff for the day:

 my kids have their vacation. that means  i can sleep a little longer each morning. not much, but still.

 and my income was payed out a week earlier this month, and just arrived on my bank account! wich means less counting each dime while Christmas shopping.

tried the 12 days one too, but all i got as resuld was a list of lj usernames, and i did not really like that, so..

well,  i have been quite busy since my last entry here.

 firstly, there was the wedding i took photo's from, on Friday. all went well, at least with the photo taking, and  i gained some courage, now knowing i can do something like this.  the newly wed couple already saw the pictures, and complimented me about how good they looked. and that is before i did any basic corrections.

now i am in the process, if sorting trough them, deciding which ones to use for an album for them which is going to be my wedding gift to them.

the wedding itself went good too, lots of fun, good food, yummy desserts. the only thing that went wrong was one guest getting a little too drunk for his own good, and almost started a figth. with me. one of the kids spilled a drink on his suit, and he got angry about that. when i told him to calm down, since his shouting was scaring all the kids in the room, he started yelling at me, instead.  the groom worked him out of the room before anything bad happened, so it luckily was solved.

 for the processing of the photo's i loaded my mom's flatscreen monitor, since she is not using her desktop computer atm, after she bougth herself a laptop. i really like having the second monitor, especcially when working on the digital art-like stuff i like doing,  and while this one is only a temporary loan, i now know what i am going to save up money for: a nice flatscreen monitor to use next to my laptop, if i am working on.. well, anything that means i normally dont seem to have enough roon on my screen. which is a lot of things.

but with all the good, there is less good too. the  sick friend of my mom i mentioned in my previos journal died, basically on the day i posted that journal.  even if everyone knew he would die, it still was a bit of a shock, especially for my mom..  it is what could have happened to us, 5 years ago, when my mom was diagnosed with the same illness. we where lucky, and it is things like this that remind us of just how much luck we had.

It is December again.

For me, it is a month where both good and bad things have happened in the past. 

one example is the December of 5 years ago, right after we heard my mom had cancer, and that she would have to be operated  as soon as was possible. Which in this case, was after New Year’s Day.  This year, that is 5 years ago. My mom is still around. She was declared free of cancer, and still is. I still can visit her, and am very thankful for that.

My father also died in this month, several years ago, but I never had too strong a bond with him, so that is one thing I am not that sad about. I know my mom is not, either. He was not that much of a good husband, or father. Not going to waste many words on him here.

The biggest shadow this year is a friend of my mom that is dying because he has the disease my mom survived from: cancer. He was given up quite a while ago, and every one knew he would die soon. From what I last heard, he will not make it to Christmas, and probably not even to the next week.  I never really met him, but I know it hits my mom, and I know for sure one thing that she is surely realizing. I myself am very aware of it too. It is what could have happened 5 years ago, but did not happen.

There are good things too, thankfully.   the holidays, like sinterklaas, which normally would have been Friday, but is moved to Thursday for our family, due to another event ( more about that one later), Christmas,  and decorating the house before that, shopping for Christmas, even if I am on a budget, it still is fun to do!

We also have a wedding on Friday the 5th. Two friends of us are tying the knot, on that day. On me, the honour of making the photo's fell. The first time I make wedding photos. I read up on it, and memorised some tips and tricks for the day. I have prepared what I could: my camera is ready, I got my stepdad's camera as a backup, and making sure I have enough memory for both camera’s, and batteries enough for the whole day.  I will try and type up a journal after Friday, telling how it went, in case anyone here is curios.

today i will do a small forum update  and a update for the affa site.

As the title says, i now have a payed LJ account, at least for the next  2 months. By then its my birthday, and thus i can ask my family and friends to give me money, so i can buy a year or so more.  Or else the $5 every two months is do-able for me too.

As for where i got the money for two months: i had put some money on my paypal, a month or so ago, and still had it, so used it for this.

I have been playing around a bit already, and plan on adding a few  more user icons too.  Already managed to get myself a custom mood theme. Well, technically i googled it.
